Hello everyone,
I just ordered my M11x R2 (i7) and I have several questions :
- First, a question about the battery. When I'll receive my M11x R2, can I must charge the battery fully and then discharge it completely to properly calibrate the battery ? So..what to do to have the maximum autonomy ? I saw there is a software to disable the battery (when you are on the sector), is it useful ?
- For drivers, I will reinstall Windows 7 64Bit and install these drivers (found on the Dell site) in that order (is this the right order, is that all drivers are necessary ?)
. QS57 Intel Express Chipset (9.1.1.1024, A00)
. JMicron JMB380 - 1394 (1.00.11.00, A03) or JMicron JMB380C - Card Reader (1.00.40.01, A03)?
. ST Microelectronics DE351DL Free Fall Sensor (2.00.00.16, A02)
. Atheros AR8132 LAN 10/100 (1.0.0.17, A00)
. Intel Intel (R) WiFi Link 6200 (TRWFW1076D, A04)
. Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module (6.2.0.9600, A02) or Dell Wireless WLAN 1520 Half MiniCard (5.60.48.18, A03)
. Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO / HSPA Mobile Broadband Mini Card (3.00.23.003, A07) or Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO / HSPA Mobile Broadband Mini Card (1.1.130, A10)?
. NVidia 260.89 (Does Optimus is now with the latest drivers? Do I have to use a modified inf to install these drivers)
. Alienware Command Center (2.5.54.0, A07)
. Synaptics Synaptics TouchPad (15.0.4, A01)
. M11x BIOS A3
- About the M11x R2 screen, I read it was so blue ? Is that using an ICC profile can fix it ?
- I saw a topic Supercharge i5/i7 and I just can understand it can unlock the CPU on the M11x R2 which has the consequence a significant performance gain (more FPS in game). Is the use provides a more real and does not over heat the M11x R2 ? Is it important to use ThrottleStop ?
Thank you in advance for all your information and sorry for my poor English!![]()

Your English is fine.
Throttlestop isn't critical, but it really, really, unlocks the true power of the i5/i7 CPU the R2 has
Install the synaptics driver from synaptics.com, instead. The Dell variant locks out some features for no good reason.
For screen, check if you have a SEC, LG, or AUO screen on the Device Manager (hardware ID).
You only need the bluetooth driver if you have it.
If you have a SSD, then the free fall sensor is useless, and may be annoying in certain circumstances (shuts off your computer if sudden acceleration occurs).
Have fun! -
Thank you for your clarification Jeremyshaw.
- So I'll install Throttlestop to increase performance of my M11x R2.
Just a question about this tool : I download the software, I install and run it and then what should I do (about new settings ?). Next, I register and the new options will be considered each time the M11x R2 starts ?
- Concerning the Synaptic driver, it's the one for Windows 7 x64 available at this link : Drivers | Synaptics
Except the NVidia driver, bluetooth and this drivers, I don't need an another drivers ?
- For the screen, when can I install the new ICC profile ? When I have an LP, LG, AUO screen ?
- Thanks for the tip about the SSD and
Thank you again. -
I would recommend the Intel Rapid Storage technology software (it lowered my power usage a bit)
I would encourage you to get your Intel drivers directly from Intel..usually updated from what Dell offers.
Don't forget to install the physX drivers from Nvidia
The alien-ware OSD software is nice as well. It adds the windows on the screen when you use the FN F keys.
