So I picked up a Samsung 830 SSD 128gb off of Newegg and want to install it in my M11x R2.
This is my first SSD and I am unsure of what all is required to install and successfully run this SSD. I did the re-spawn discs when my R11 was new, so I think doing a fresh install with those would be my first choice. I haven't done a fresh install since I bought the Laptop in 2010 so I think its a good idea.
Mostly looking for BIOs settings, and anything that needs to be on or off. I know Samsung Magician does some-things like garbage collection, etc. But not sure if its better to let Windows 7 handle any of those functions.
Also is any type of spacer needed to install this in the M11x?
Any tips or tricks would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

all you need to do in BIOS is make sure SATA's in AHCI mode.
Also note that the R2 only supports SATAII, so your 830 will only run at SATAII speeds.
Other than that it's as simple as undoing all of the screws on the bottom plate, remove it and in the corner (which one depends which way its facing obviously lol) you will see the HDD in its caddy. Just remove the 2 screws and pull the tab to slide it out. Put the caddy on the SSD and re-do te entire process in reverse.
Then do your Windows install. -
Thanks! I'll be giving it a go this weekend.
