    Hey guys!

I have a M11x r2 with i5. When gaming at half brightness on games like half life 2 I get 1 hour 15 minutes on battery with high performance and about 2 hours on balanced. Isn't that kinda bad?

    I looked here: Alienware M11x R2 Review - Battery / Temperature Performance

How come they get 3 hours? I use same settings as them.

    Thanks! :)

you might have other programs running they didnt.

also is you laptop brand new? as the life of your battery shortens as time goes on.

I Experience it gets better after a few charges. Then stay optimal for a good while. Then it slowly drops..

It is 2 weeks old, recharged it 4 times maybe. Would be awesome if it got better after like 10 charges! :D

Batterybar also isn't working for me I think. The windows battery indicator says 5 hours at full charge, batterbar says full lifetime: 3 hours. This is at balanced power settings. 13000mW with no programs open.

Just started fallout 3 now with no other programs open on high performance, battery says 1 hour 18 minutes.

Turn off alienfx lights and if you're overclocking then it will impact it

overclocking and alienfx have an extremely small impact on battery life actually.

How much battery life should I get from playing a game on high performance/balanced with brighness to half?

    I have gotten 1 hour 18 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes.

I could try turning off the AlienFX if it draws much from the battery.

I dunno about the M11x, but turning of AlienFX on my M17x-R1 only got me an extra fifteen minutes, if that. That was with a reported ~3.5 hours remaining.

I thought overclocking impacts immediate battery life, like when gaming without the AC.

I have no other programs open, but I never get more than a little over an hour on high performance and on balanced I get about one and a half hour. The guy in the test got 3 hours and 3 minutes, with same settings I get 1 hour 30 minutes.

I would really appriciate if someone told me how long battery you get while gaming! :)

I've never gamed on battery. How many background processes do you have running? How much memory/ cpu are they consuming?

There are differences between machines. How many hours do you get when not gaming?

64 backround processes when not having any programs open. 0-2% CPU and 24% Physical memory.

When surfing the web I get about 3.5 hours with power saver with brightness on 3 and 1 or 2 tabs open, no video.

Maybe I'm beeing a bit demanding, but I thought before buying the R2 i5, that I would be able to game for more than 1 hour 15 minutes on battery.

Mine is overclocked, using TS, and alienfx on (processes are off though) and i get a little over 2hours on wow and badcompany 2. Definitely not normal. But The FX lights definitely decreases life by about 30min so you may want to try that.

2 hours while overclocked too? :S
I tried turning off the AlienFx, overclock off, brightness to lowest, wifi off, high performance. While playing far cry 2 I got about 1 hour 35 minutes, so getting better! Maybe I should check how many mW the battery is draining while playing games or something?

I know that i have gotten almost 1.7 hours on performance mode while playing L4D2. Forgot I was unplugged while playing and didn't catch it until the low battery warning came on.
    EDIT: i have an i5

I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but I turned off the breed theme I had and seem to get better battery life now.
