I mangled the cable that provides connectivity to the power switch/led lights along the top of the palm rest assembly.. The main ribbon cable and now it's completely ruined, even after trying to repair, the pins are broken and I snipped the bad portion off hoping I could peel back more cable but it's impossible..

Can this ribbon cable be replaced or am I forced to buy a whole palm rest assembly with ribbon cable? I can only find the palm rest with touchpad assembly as a whole.. used they are going for about $50.. ugh. This used M11X R1 is going to end up costing me as much as a R3 new by the time i'm done :/

You can take some light sand paper and sand one side of the cable to expose wire to plug back in. I have used this method on many 7 inch car audio head units.

Dell lost one of my rubber bumpers on the palm rest during a depot repair and sent me an entire palm rest assembly to install myself. I just sent my old one back before seeing this. :(

Anyway, I noticed that the LED/power board was a different manufacturer and even the cable was slightly different, though, compatible.
