Hi everyone, I just got a new R1 from the black friday sale and my R1 has been great asides from this problem I've been experiencing. When my machine goes to sleep and I turn it on again, it crashes. At first it looks like normal and says it's resuming, but then goes to a black screen with a blinking underscore and just freezes there. Then I need to reboot and delete data and start a new session. Is this a common problem with R1's?

At first I thought it was maybe because I just shut the lid when I go to sleep, but then I also tried pressing the power button to sleep and the problem happened again. So far it's happened 3 times and I've used this computer less than 10 times.

    TIA for the help.

How about just shutting it off? This isn't the only laptop I've seen people complain about sleeping issue, so I'm guessing it's normal.

I've had my M11xR1 SU7300 do it a few times. No biggie.
Mind you, a bit of a moment when it happens the first time.

I'd hibernate and power off the notebook, then reboot and I'd get a black screen with a flashing white cursor in the top left corner.

As the OP notes, it doesn't happen all the time.

One day, I'll have a closer look to see if there is a reason behind it.

I mostly just shut the notebook down and power on when needed, as the power on startup is no more than a couple of minutes at most.

Besides shutting the lid with the power on, does nothing on my notebook as I use it with the lid shut and external monitors/keyboard attached.

This is when you notice the power button is 'inside' the notebook. Guess the M11x wasn't designed for docking.

I have had a similar issue permanently since switching to SSD on my R2 :(
It seems every time the screen switches itself off when idling (not sleep - just standby) eg, when I go and make a coffee or similar, When I come back and 'wake it up' by pressing the keyboard or moving the mouse I will either get a blank screen or a frozen screen for a good 2-3 mins. It's really irritating as I cannot for the life of me find out what the problem is and the only resolution is to hard reset using the power button or wait the few minutes it takes to comeback to life............... hummph

I dock my R1 with a 24" monitor. I leave it in sleep mode all the time and wake with the keyboard on usb. This means I don't have to open the lid every time I power up. I'm hoping this will avoid wear and tear on the fragile hinges.

I also have the same issue sometimes where it crashes from wake up. Probably does it 1 in 5 startups.

Alright, so it seems like I'm not the only one experiencing this problem and it isn't limited to R1. I'm hoping someone with a fix will see this thread. I'm about to swap out my hdd and ram but am debating if I should try to have dell replace my notebook.... It's kind of disheartening for it to have this problem straight out of the box.

I'm also wondering how many m11x owners experience this problem... If this problem has already been covered, would appreciate a link to the thread.
