Very interesting, really the only game with significant improvements was BC2, a few others got 5-10 FPS improvements, but it was from like 90 FPS R1 to 100 FPS R2, so not a big deal.

Also everyone should note these are all minimum settings, so these benchmarks really do show the effect the CPU has on the system, since there is nothing else holding the system back. In the real world with medium/high settings some of these games will score the exact same on both systems since they will be GPU bound under higher settings.

I was wondering how they benchmarked using LFD2 and ME2, i was expecting the R2 to edge out the R1 there but it wasnt the case.

You can see on the individual slides they say what they did, being that they are one of the major reviewing sites it is safe to assume they did the same sections of each game on each machine. As for settings all the tests where done with all low graphics settings, native res, and they used average FPS as the benchmark numbers (again you can see all this info under the name of the game on the slides).

Same here. Just browsing on lowest brightness while wife watches usual crap on TV and battery showing 10hr  Usually get over 8hr browsing yet still good enough for gaming when needed.

This makes me VERY happy that I didn't sell my R1 for an R2. It would have been way more hassle than it's worth.

I kinda think this thread is fine as a new one, the other thread on this subject is just talking about the review, this is talking about the R1 to R2 comparison. If someone just wants to talk about the R2 and the review they use the other thread. If you want to talk about comparing the two you use this thread.

    Makes sense to me.
