The Intel Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 (R248086.exe) driver refuses to install, after unzipping the exe the installation is immediately aborted with a setup error (This software package cannot be installed on your system. The setup application will exit). I'm not 100% sure that this is the right driver, It's just the one posted on the DELL M11x driver site.. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could direct me to an alternative working driver or some sort of a solution.

Are you sure you have the Intel WiFi card installed at all? E.g. my R1 has Wireless WLAN 1520 HalfMini card - and as far as I remember, I only had to install this respective driver the two times I reformatted my m11x. I did not install the Intel one.

You might want to try installing the Wireless WLAN 1520 HalfMini card driver from Dell website and see if it works like this?
