So I think my nvidia gpu is staying on. The reason I say this is that my discharge rate is never below 17000mwh even with Turbo, search, wifi and alienfx off. This puts my full charge at a little above 2hours. Any ideas?

    What drivers you using?

I was using the new ones before i reinstalled my os and the battery life was kinda low too my liking 3hours and a half too 4hours and 30min and my discharge rate was always around 14mw too 18mw always.

So after the fresh install i left the stock drivers on and the discharge rate sometimes go down too 8mw and avg is around 10mw too 12max when browsing the net which nets me around 5hours too 6hours.

This is with power settings on and brightness down on the lowest and lights off.

I pretty happy with the battery life now.

Im going too try the new ones again and see how they do cause maybe something else was draining it down, But i pretty sure it was the new drivers.

I have run everything from 260.99 to the current drivers and its all the same story. All clean installs. I have an issue right now that my gpu isn't running on stock so it could be that its a faulty card. I am going to call for a replacement when I get home to see of that helps.

Are you running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1? Apparently there are issues with Optimus/switchable graphics with SP1. Try doing a clean install using the DVD that came with your machine or your recovery partition and don't install the service pack to see if that helps.

Oh really? Hmmm... I may just stick with it then and hope. I do not want to sit through 400gb of installations. Thanks for the info. Weird that mine is as low as 2 hours but others get 3.5+

    Cheers

I get about 3 hours and when watching VODs the discharge rate is around 24K... so the GPU is definitely running.

I found out it was that Nvidia made steam run in nvidia GPU and it starts on start up. Thanks for all the feedback! Up to 4hours battery!
