When on AC my brick gets pretty hot, almost too hot to touch at times. Is this nomal? Anybody else experience this?

I have had the same problem on my R1, with original DELL AC. But on mine it stopped charging, and got very hot. Called dell and got a replacement really quick, great service from dell again.

Remember that if it is charging it gets hotter than just maintaining the battery.

Mine can get pretty hot while gaming for a long time. Are you just talking about normal use, or not?

It shouldn't be too hot to touch during normal use. Either something is wrong with your power brick or your computer is drawing an unusually large amount of power for some reason. Most likely it's the power brick.

Mine is definitely warm, but I could keep my hand on it indefinitely without being uncomfortable.

How hot are we talking about? CAn you clench the power adapter tightly in your hand for 5 seconds without burning yourself or hurting yourself?

In any case, I'd call Alienware (not Dell). They should be sending you a replacement power adapter. A malfunctioning adapter is a risk to both your computer equipment, and a fire hazard.

I just got off of the phone with Alienware. They are shipping a new one to me. They should not be getting that hot.
