Do you have any BSODs referring to nvlddmkm.sys? I know what it is I've seen it all over this forum. I'm looking for any user that DOESN'T have them while playing WoW. I do not experience it on any game except for WoW. Even when overclocked on other games. Its only on WoW and I know some people have it in other games but what I am trying to get at is does everyone that has the R2 and the 270 drivers get the BSOD when playing WoW?
edit: Thanks for the input just trying to figure out the cause of this BSOD because it seems like people are having them but no idea why. Especially since a lot of people aren't crashing with the 260 drivers like my self.
edit2: I've found several Nvidia forum posts dealing with the R2 and people found it to be the way WoW uses Shaders that is not very friendly with our GPU+Optimus combo. So I play some games at 550/1320/900 totally fine but seems like I will have to test and see if running the GPU at 450/980/790 keeps it from crashing (lowering the Shaderclock by 100). Which is ridiculous. They point out that it is a software sided problem and after my tests with other games I am starting to see it that way, either with WoW or the Driver.
edit3: And if I overclock my GPU too far and play anything besides WoW (like 600/1440/900) the games do not BSOD a notification bubble pops up saying the Nvidia GPU has encounter a critical error Blah blah. Reinforcing my original claim.

I had some problems so I decided to stop overclocking and use a notebook cooler and for a week now I have played wow with no problems.... my driver is 275.33

bugger thats the extent of my skill level...

Yeah oh well. My left USB is broken and they are sending a new motherboard (2nd time i have had it replaced, first was a faulty GPU) and so lets see if that helps. It hasnt for those who i've seen but we can hope.
-
Note the motherboard revision and the build date if you are there when they install. Make sure they arent sending you a refurb motherboard.
-
What would I look for if it was refurb?
-
That I wouldn't know. You might see something on the box it comes in or the tech might know.
If you get a earlier revision of the MB (ie look at the build date) chances are its a refurb. -
Alright Ill just talk to the tech when he arrives. Good to fill that awkward silence while he's working anyway.

I think the problem is wow I have problems in wow cause of sound and video the problem is wow forces priority to soundcard and video card if you doing other things at same time wich also try and force priority you get that error I will work on an addon
for wow when I get laptop back to fix that its not just alienware that has that problem its the game that causes it -
Its something to do with the shaders in wow. The similar issue arises for me in Black Ops but all my other games remain untouched. We will see. Lowering the shader clock to 980 eliminates the problem. I overclock it back to 1400 whenever playing anything else.

What you describe is what was happening with mine (I think we established we had the same revision of the 335m?). It was more apparent in the 270, but I had it happen int he 260 as well. The only way I found to fix was underclocking the gpu. Here are games with the weird issues.
L4d2
TMNT
Chronicles of Riddick
Farcry. -
I do not have problems with the 260 driver set with anything except WoW / Black Ops. L4D2 is fine for me. Interesting how different it is for everyone.
R2 Users that play WoW with 270.xx drivers+
