basically over the last few days i have had my R2 wake up at 12am (1am with DSt) i have actually been at there when it fires up, which is a bit worrying as a few times i have had it in a bag, so it got toasty enough to bluescreen and tell me about a hdd error,

i read somewhere on the dell site, someone was saying there was a advanced power option in the bios to turn off RTC wake, but i dont see anything to indicate this on the m11x

    so i am kinda stumped

Are you sure it wasn't just waking up to dump contents of RAM to HDD and fully hibernate? It does that after 6 hours of sleep by default.
