I know that most people who own the M11x r3 use it primarily for gaming; however I was wondering what cool things some of the other hardware in the system is capable of. I have not received my R3 yet but was very interested in the following and would like to know what cool things are possible with the R3:
-Bluetooth 3 - what's the difference than 2.1 and does stereo BT work out of the box? Does it work well?
-Intel Wifi 6200 card - does widi? really work? Can you stream Hd and games over the card to a receiver connected to the TV? Does it work well?
-FireWire - why is it still in the r3 and what devices work with it? I know my FireWire hd did not ever work with my R1.
-USB 3 - is it fast on the R3 and do only external harddrives take advantage of it?
-3D capabilities - has anyone hooked up their R3 to a 3d TV or monitor and does it actually work in 3d? For instance, if I had the right cable and monitor, could you play Batman AA in 3D using the M11x?

Sorry if all these questions have been asked before, but I thought it would be great to get answers on a single thread.

    1. Not sure about the difference between the two but I assume bluetooth 3 has a larger range than 2.1
    2. The wifi card connects you to the Internet not your tv, only the m14x and up have that ability
    3. You can hook up speakers I guess, not too sure never used my FireWire port
    4. Yes it's fast, my brothers laptop has USB 3 and it's quite fast, and no it's not just for external HDs either, he copies an iTunes tv show to his iPod likE nothing
5.no idea, iv never owned a 3d anything

Wrong. I have an r3 and it has the intel wireless display which can stream to compatible TV's.

and also OP the r3 has a much better webcam than the r1 its way clearer and doesnt lag at all.

Technically you're both right about wireless display.

The m11x r3 (and m14x+) have Wi-Di, which gives you wireless display to a Wi-Di compatible TV. The problem is, good luck finding one there aren't any. Maybe it's something that will come in the future but as for now there are no Wi-Di devices.

The m14x+ has WirelessHD as an option, which some TV's support (and has Wi-Di as well).

    So currently you're both right

*EDIT* As I write this I see there is a receiver you can purchase for a TV now, the Netgear Push2TV to make it Wi-Di compatible but I couldn't find any TV's with it built in yet. At least the m11x now has a way of utilizing it (albeit a receiver needs be purchased).

Unfortunately the netgear add on is rather choppy/laggy with wireless from what I gather.

Thanks for all the info! I think the Widi would be useful if it could stream games wirelessly to my tv using the receiver. Some of the other stuff I asked was just fluff that I think would be cool if it would work (such as playing games in 3d) but I most likely would not be using it for those purposes.
