Have you tried the in-built IE and see what happened?
Or maybe try reinstalling firefox/ change settings again? -
-
I installed ZoneAlarm Extreme Security and i have hard time browsing lol, uninstalling it fixed the problem :x
Well see what running processes you have? -
Thanks for your reply
I realize that most of the time when lock-up happened, I was downloading by Internet Download Manager and browsing internet. Maybe IDM causes the problem but I'm still not sure. My friend also has this problem once. -
I don't know if you've solved your problem yet, but I'm having a hell of a time with Firefox 4. Long freezes and total lockups that require a system reboot. This happens on my M11x and both of my MacBook Pros (2010 Core i7 with OSX and Win7 Pro x64 and an older Core2Duo version). And while it wasn't happening every time, it was often enough that I've gone back to Chrome and/or Safari on the Macs and Chrome and/or IE9 on the M11x (and the Win7 Pro x64 partition on my MBPro i7).
I was/am a huge fan of FFox so I gave it some time thinking it would get more stable as my Add-ons updated to FF 4, but I couldn't wait any longer. I'll give it another try if an update is released. Also, I checked to make sure other programs, over heating, etc. weren't the real culprit in FFox borking like it was. I'm a bit of a browser junkie and for various reasons I sometimes have more than one browser running, so I checked to make sure another browser wasn't fouling FFox4, as far as I can tell, this wasn't a problem either.
FWIW, I'm loving IE9 on my m11x. I don't know why since I do miss my extensions from Chrome and FFox, but there's something about it that just seems kinda cool, and it renders nice and snappy (yeah, dorky reason, but... /shrug lol ).
Anyway, I hope FFox gets the bugs out before too long. -
Thanks you for your reply tazm0n
As my previous post said, I think the problem is between Firefox 4 and IDM.
Last night, I tried using IDM to download a single file only on Megaupload along with Firefox browsing. I kept downloading like that for 2 hours and luckily no lock-up occurred at all. Remember that, most of the time when lock-up occurred, I was downloading more than 3 files at the same time.
I think I will do some test for certain.
Did you use FF 4 along with some download accelerate program (like IDM, flashget,...) tazm0n? -
I had this problem.. i upgraded to the 270 driver and im using integrated graphics seem to do the job

Alot of users (including myself) found problems under heavy load with the Dell 1520 Wireless card. Replacing it fixed any lockups and also increased signals and speeds. Something to consider

I had problem with Firefox 4. Flickering screen and the scroll bar won't respond to mouse clicks. I went back to the old firefox version and everything went fine. The IE9 browser works fine but it closes (no response) everytime I download something from a site.
I have M11X R2 with i7 and 8gb of Ram. -
EDIT: Forgot to ask- are you or anyone else reading this having problems posting on forums with FFox4? Specifically ones that use these types of forms to write a post. One of the other problems I had that would lead to FFox freezing is trying to correct the body of my post within the text box even before I submitted it. For example- I'd notice I forgotten a space between two words, place my cursor to make the space and nothing happens when I hit the space bar. After which I would get the error exclamation tone when I'd hit any key and I would be unable to edit or type anything further. This only happened in OSX and if I tried to switch browsers, the spinning beachball appeared, signaling doom to my post.... and a reboot. Again, it didn't happen every time and I could force a recreation of the issue o figure out if another prog was conflicting or whether it was a sequence of actions that let to the fault. If anyone did have this problem and figured out what was causing it, I'd greatly appreciate you letting me know how it was fixed. Thanks! -
Ok, today i try to OC a little bit, 150 Mhz and see what happens. After 2 hours gaming StarCraft 2 with no problem, I quitted game and come to FF4. And lock-up happened after half an hour. This time, I just browsing and didn't download anything. Disappointed!!!
I see in this forum many people can OC their CPU over 160Mhz. Mine are unstable even at 150. So, how can I know if my RAM have bad dump or have a problem in Bios?
@tazmon: sorry, I don't use OSX
Randomly Lock-up while browsing Internet!!!
