I walked away from my computer for a few minutes and when I came back it didnt want to open ANYTHING. I restarted and now it works. Should I do a virus check? And also, whats a good virus checker (not antivirus) and a good registry error remover?

CCleaner is good at removing these sort of things.

more likely related to power management than anything. I cannot think of any way a cookie would cause this.

Did a full trojan removal with nod32. It seems to be fine now, no threats detected

The first result for vlc player. Some reason the trojans are still in the quarantine menu... It scanned and saw no viruses but they are still in quarantine... here is a screeny

Edit: I just looked and there is hw monitor in there.... is that a virus too?

Weird, the first and official link for downloading VLC media player (not that I would recommend using it) is called: vlc-1.1.11-win32.exe

If it still isn't fully cleaning out the virus, give Avast! free antivirus a try. I find that it works really well.

Bitdefender and Kaspersky have online free scanners too, no download needed.

Can someone explain why the M14x with the quad core i7 maxes out at 8GB of RAM, but the M11x with the dual core i7 maxes out at 12GB?

I do a lot of 3D modeling and multitasking, extra RAM is always great.

The m11x has the (expensive) option to upgrade to 16GB on dells website, The m14x doesn't have this option, but that doesn't mean its not supported (and even if its not technically supported some laptops will still read more ram than they say). I'd say that if you picked up 16GB from newegg (about $169) it would read just fine, if not return it.

When you say "not that I would recommend using it" do you mean that you wouldn't recommend using the link? Or that you wouldn't recommend using VLC Player? Or that you recommend that VLC Player is not used?

I'm not being sarky, but as I rely on VLC for recording mms streams and playing FLV video I'd like to know any drawbacks :)
