hey guys its me again sorry for another thread but this ones different

so yeah at first i was using my sisters universal charger thing i think the name of the charger is iGo or something.. so yeah it always had a message in boot it says

"please plug a 90w dell adapter or higher blah blah blah" so yeah i have an old dell charger thingy from my old studio 17 and i plugged it in my second hand m11x r3 the model is LA90PS1-00 90W-ac adapter DELL

and now i plugged it and it still has the same error. is it because of my old adapter? should i get a new one or is it my alienware battery. cos its not charging now and all. basically all the mobility is useless cos i cant charge and if i take off the charger it turns of instantly...

    thanks guys for the time

Just out of curiosity does M11x use the round Dell charger or the slightly hexagonal one? My Inspiron has a hexagonal and I wondered if I could use it with this in a pinch.

Best option would be to get one off Dell directly. I've bought some off Amazon and other sites in the past (they claimed they were genuine etc) and it was an unbranded dodgy charger that failed in a couple of weeks.

leave it off and try charging. Im not sure about m11x, but when i had an old lappy i would use 30w charger when it was off to charge battery, as it needed like 120w or something. Was a pentium 4 toshiba sattelite, old piece of crap.

It could simply be that the old charger doesn't comunicate with the laptop, doesn't give the "hello i am a branded dell 90W charger, plug me up your butt and gimme the green light".

Shouldn't they send one free though? just tell em it blew up in a fiery explosion and you need a charger. Surely its still under warranty.

M11x doesn't use the hexagonal charger. it doesn't fit. It uses the round one....

Now, if you have a m11x r3 I guess you still have warranty, just use it and ask for a replacement...

You can use any 90w charger (19.5V 4.62A)...

I would only use a Dell Alienware OEM charger as a precaution.
