Hello,
I am not the best with computers but my brother is (hah), ive had a Alienware M11x R1 since december, and theirs always been this problem that would occur here and there, If i put my laptop on hibernation or standby and later in the day or whenever come back and hit the alien head to power it back on, sometimes the computer wont restore what i had saved and i have to hold the alien head to turn off the computer and restart it. when it does this theres a blinking _ (underscore) in the top left corner. I wanted to know how to go about fixing this as when this happens i lose what i dont save before putting my computer to hibernate.
Thanks
Ming

Mine has done this a couple times as well. I've got an R1 with momentus XT hdd installed. Otherwise it is stock. What configuration are you running?

This happens all the time to mine, only when I put it in hibernation mode. I just use standby or turn it off, SSD means startup is fast anyway!

My R1 is all stock so i'm not really sure? sorry

M11xR1 SU7300 Win7 SP1 Nvidia 260.63 Intel 2020 500GB HDD 4GB RAM
Standard expect for updated Nvidia hybrid driver.
Have the same problem where restoring from hibernate would 'hang' with cursor in the left corner.
As I now have Win7 SP1 I'm using hibernate all the time now to check if these 'hangs' are still happening. -
I have this problem too. M11x r2 i5.

for me, disabling hibernation freed up like 2.5-3GB of space on my hard drive. i'm not sure why people like to hibernate though - i will standby overnight for ~8 hours and coming back to windows takes ~20 seconds. hibernate is for people who want to...save things to the disk instead of RAM and turn off the computer for an extended period of time.
i'd rather just standby for a night or just shut down altogether, while keeping 3GB of extra hard drive space available. am i alone with this?
