Hi, I have the SSD option on my m11x (samsung 256gb) but noticed Intel Matrix Storage Manager is installed and read somewhere it shouldn't be.
In the BIOS the SSD is on AHCI and I have run a tool that says Trim is enabled.
Should I have it installed or should it be de-installed (and is it safe to).
Sorry if dumb question.

Dont worry....all is fine. Did u install the OS? Did u install the storage manager? System details? Have u done a performance check?

Oh sorry, no Win7 pro was pre-installed, m11x, 4gb ram, su7300 cpu, samsung 256gb SSD
Read somewhere that intel matrix storage manager stopped trim commands being passed to SSD drive and it should be removed?
Yeah I did a speed test it was good at reading 200mb/sec but pretty poor at writes around 60mb/sec.
Ok I won't mess about with it, pretty pleased all round just saw that comment and thought I'd ask the experts. -
Well actually, if someone installed the older Intel driver in there TRIM will not work.
Go to control panel/device manager/IDE ATA/AHCI controllers and tell me what driver is running. Also, click on the driver tab and tell me the version please. -
Hey Les thanks for response.
It says:
Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
and version is 8.9.4.1004 (13/10/2009)
Cheers... -
Uninstall it via device manager to get trim working.
I did the same with a x25 g2 -
hi ctn777 uninstalled, however i noticed my crystalmark score dropped on writing from 100mb/sec to 60. I system restored and am back to 100 so i'm not convinced about removing that driver. hmmmm
