Hello. I have OC'd my CPU to 164 mhz which is quite stable. I am also using throttlestop, gamebooster and MSI afterburn. I have managed to get wprime to run at 29 which is quite good, but noticed my GPU temp (in msi afterburn) hit 56. Is that safe? Would this go up whilst gaming and what is a safe temp? What would happen if you went over the "safe" temp?

    Thanks

56 is more than safe. My current 9800gs hops to 100+ while playing games and that's with an opened case with laptop fan/cooler right under it. Is 56 at full load or at idle?

At idle it's lower. After running wprime, this max's out at approx 56 so its usually lower. I guess this will go up during gameplay?

    I have the i5 also.
I'd bet that it went up to 56 due to the CPU's heat. The GPU should not be active for Wprime.
According to HWMonitor the most I have seen from my GPU is 80 degrees C. I'd be willing to bet that the max temp is around 110 for this card so anything under that will be fine.
FYI the CPU should have a max temp of 125 ish meaning it will shut off at 125 for safety reasons. So there shouldnt be any need to worry.

beyond 110C your GPU will crap out. So you are safe :)
