    Hello guys,

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who looked at the HD Tune performance of the solid state drive that comes with M11xR2 (the Samsung PM800 256GB). It is free to download: HD Tune website

Here are my results, they look to me less than what they should be, but I'm not really sure if these hard drives actually perform better on desktops than on laptops due to some awkward I/O difference.

    Transfer rate: 127.0 MB/sec average
    Access time: 0.3ms
    Burst rate: 108.7 MB/sec

Could someone with the same SSD please run the program and report their results here? Thanks !

It might be useful to check using a more SSD inclined benchmark tool like ATTO, CrystalDiskMark or AS SSD Benchmark; so that you can check performance for different block sizes.

I believe HD Tune checks only 64KB block size by default, while performance for larger block sizes might benchmark higher.

Thanks, I used ATTO and at the highest block size I was getting about 202 MB/sec read speed (which is as expected from the drive) but write speed was around 140 MB/sec which is much less than what other people seem to get on ATTO (around 190 MB/sec close to read speed).

Actions I have taken so far,

    1) Make sure TRIM is enabled.
    2) Make sure AHCI mode is enabled both in BIOS and software.
    3) Make sure Windows recognized it as an SSD (no defrag schedules).

If anyone with the same drive on an m11x could run ATTO ( https://www.attotech.com/register/index.php?FROM=http://www.attotech.com/product.php?model=89) and post their results here, I'd very much appreciate it :)

See if there is a firmware update needed on your drive. Then download intel's latest RST drivers - They made a world of difference on my drive: dunno how they did it but my numbers were very similar to yours but these are how they run now

EDIT: forgot to mention Google JJB SSD optimization - these tips were invaluable to get my SSD up and above my expected standards after splashing out so much $$$
