I am curious. I think I know why but being the very inexperienced techie that I am I do not think I have the right answer in my head.

Is it absolutely imperative that the m11x switch to "Improved Performance Mode" AKA Nvidia Gt335m Mode when you connect to an external monitor? I would like to keep it on the save power mode to do work but have not figured out if that is possible. Any ideas / Definite answers?

Yeah. That is what I am wondering about. Why is that? And is there anyway around it?

The HDMI port requires the nvidia card but VGA does not. I'm not sure about Displayport though.
