I have a DVD esentials disc that I used to calibrate the screen on my Panasonic lcd tv, I thought about using it to have a play with the screen on the m11x but when you launch the nvidia display controls you then cant see the display well enough on the screen to make adjustments.... any ideas folks?
-
I heard the screen quality on the M11x was horrid
-
-
How do you use that color profile file?
-
No one stated what panel that profile was created on. Can't hurt to try it though. I'd say you have about a 40% of it being for the panel you have. Instructions for installing it are in the ICC link in my sig.
-
Seems to have changed the contrast greatly. I can't even see the lines between the tabs in firefox.
Seems I have a different panel. -
Which panel do you have?
- Start
- type "Device"
- click on Device Manager
- expand Monitors
- right-click on Generic PnP Monitor and choose Properties
- Details tab
- choose the Hardware Ids from the drop down list and note the value
It will be the SEC (Samsung) AUO (AU Optronics) or an LG panel. -
I have the AU optronics it seems.
I see there is a suggestion for the values:
AUO105C:
Maximum: 175.6 cd/m²
Average: 157.5 cd/m²
Illumination: 80 %
Black: 0.81 cd/m²
Contrast: 217:1
in the other thread. I am not sure how to enter these values. After looking at the file as a notepad, it didn't seem obvious if I could plug and chug.
EDIT: waitaminute, your file is for the AUO105C......that's strange...maybe I just need to adjust my viewing angle. -
Those are the measured values of the screen taken with a colorimeter or spectrometer. My AUO panel measured like this about 4 weeks ago.
Not quite as bright as the specs you've found (those are probably from notebookcheck.com), a teensy bit better in terms of blackpoint and contrast ratio.
Since you have the AUO then try the ICC profile I've provided. Link to download and configure in my sig. -
-
The one in your profile.
-
It's entirely possible that one AUO to the next is different enough that an accurate profile generated on one panel isn't necessarily going to work well on another.
-
hehe, reseting the computer again solved it. Seems I undid the msconfig service change. So it was just Windows brightening things up again.
After reset, things look really great. -
You mean disabling the Intel Persistence Module?
-
What about a samsung panel on an R1?
I feel left out.
-
Ship it to me. I'll calibrate it.
-
^^^ ha ha!
Just as well I have an AUO and that slickie88's calibration looks OK on it.
[Update - Opps. re-checked and slickie88 ICC on my M11xR1 looks washed out]
I can ship you a couple of Dell U2410 monitors that need to be pimped.
I've so got to get me a calibration tool.
I use the standard U2410 ICC profile when using the U2410 as an external monitor on my M11xR1 via HDMI or DisplayPort (AND even VGA.. M11xR1 so it'd be rude to not try it at least once) and it comes up a treat.
Now... if only I could get my 40" Sony TV calibrated when using it externally from the M11xR1
Update: Re-enabled slickie88 ICC profile on my M11xR1 and it really looks washed out. If I use the windows standard calibration, the colours are so much more vivid. If I then use the Nvidia defaults it's hardly noticeable from the application settings. The baby skin tones look good.
This is more in line with the ICC profile I have on my U2410 via it's sRGB setting. -
Would it hurt to use your calibration file for a Samsung monitor? And how do I revert back to original if it looks all funky?
-
-
As you obviously know baby skin tones are one of the best tests for good color fidelity. It's supposed to be a bit warmer than what most people are used to seeing on a display. -
I was planning on using a spyder express to calibrate my screen. Do i need to calibrate for each gpu?
