    Hi,

I have an M11x R2, expired warranty in July. The hinges failed about a month ago, I sent it in out of warranty for repair, and I got it back about 3 weeks ago (the hinges are rock solid, btw).

Since then, however, I've noticed a "flickering" of the screen. It is really noticeable when the screen is dark, on only the dark parts of the screen; Steam's interface does it horribly. Now, it's not really a flashing of the actual power brightness (ie. spamming the F4,F5 function keys). It's more of just flashing dark and normal really fast, traveling up the screen. Sorry, it's hard to explain, which makes it much more hard to search for help. It only happens in dark parts when at full brightness; as you lower the brightness, it gets much more noticeable on brighter colors.

It happens on every power mode, the screen refresh rate is at 60hz. (Does the R3 screen have a different refresh rate than R2? I took it apart to reseat the cord; it's fine.

I started to notice it soon after I got the laptop back. I kind of figured Dell wouldn't want to deal with it again, so I was hoping that it was temporary, but it hasn't gone away at all. Now I see it's not getting any better, and it is kind of hard on the eyes.

Now, has anyone heard of such a thing happening after a screen replacement, and happens to know a fix? Will Dell work with me even though I'm out of warranty and the hinge replacement was out of warranty? Will they do it this late after the repair?

Thanks so much for your help.

I have not heard of this screen flickering. They might cover it out of warranty but they will probably charge for it.
