    1. There should be a restore partition
    2. No, the Alien head on the lid stays white
    3. The fan only turns on when it's needed
    4. There is no 'Alienware' charger, all Dell laptops use the same Dell charger

and the screen is cracked and its missing keys and the I spilled some coffee..lol..jk

1.are you sure is a R3? if so, then the computer still under warranty..call dell and ask them to fix it.

    2. alien logo in the back doesnt change colors

    3. the charger can be from a Latitude\XPS ect as long the voltage is 19.5v and at least 90 watts, anything under 90 watts will disable battery charging and it will run your computer slower to not overload the charger

    4. it wont ask you any passwords in case you want to do a clean instalation (unless the computer has a bootup password), just make sure you install the most current alienware control center from the dell website

thanks guys for replying fast just quick questions

    whats a partition?

and yes its an r3 and oh yeah in the screen its not cracked or something but theres white shadow thinggy and i cant remove it i guess its inside and its a screen problem or something.

oh but my brother and i are in the philippines so like its gonna be hard for me to ship it to dell and its gonna take forever and stuff..

so yeah should i restore it to factory settings so its like brand new and shiz cos its kinda hanging but its still a 5.5 rating i just checked.

oh if i restored this to factory settings will everything be like brand new settings and shiz like everythings gone but the default apps are there like command center and stuff?

Your charger will work. I've never heard of a bad charger breaking a battery. I routinely use Inspirons, Latitudes, and my Alienware, and the chargers all work with each other.

A partition is like a room on your hard drive. Your hard drive comes with a C: drive (the system partition) and a D: drive (Recovery partition). So look in Computer, you should see a C: and a D: drive in there. If you do, then you can take care of the reformat and it should be easy.

I say it SHOULD be easy. I have never had to try it (thank goodness) so I don't know for sure.

If you can't find the instructions there are a lot of people on here who know what they're doing. If not I can help you figure it out but it won't be as helpful as someone who's done it.

The restore partitions are hidden, they won't appear in his 'Computer'.

Disk management shows my recovery partition as being 19.22GB and hidden.

While your PC is booting press the hotkey for 'boot Options' (it should tell you what to press, i don't know if it's the same as other models). From there select the recovery option and it should start.

    oh okay

    it only shows a C: not D

so if i reformat my laptop everything will be set into default stuff and default apps?

can i just use the alienrespawn and click restore to factory settings?
whats the difference from the boot option and the alienwarerespawn restore button?

    thanks guys helps alot

oh and im wondering my ram says its 6144mb ram, is that the 6GB DDR3 at 1333MZ or did my brother ripp me off? lol

Yes, Alienrespawn uses the restore form the hidden factory partition to do a fresh factory format. If your alienrespawn works then use that. It's the exact same thing.

There are 1024MB in 1GB. 1024 x 6 = 6144MB. Also you said that your brother GAVE it to you, so i don't see how he could possibly "rip you off" with something free.
