    1) I have a good idea of what dual booting is but can someone clarify what it is just so I am sure?

    2) How do I go about dual booting?

    3) Is it as easy as restarting and you can start up in the secondary OS?

My reasons: I want to (if I have the right idea) partition my 500gb hard drive to have about 50-100gb for a ubuntu dual boot along with my primary win 7 partition. Is this feasible? And again is it as easy as stated in question 3?

    Thanks

    1) Its were you can pick between 2 operating systems when your starting up your computer. Handy if you wanna run linux + windows + anything.

    2) Install windows 7 first, then boot up to a ubuntu live disk/usb. Start the ubuntu install utility, which has gparted to partition your drive as you'd like. Theres a side by side option in where you can choose how big you want your ubuntu partition to be. It'll also install grub loader which will let you pick between the 2 at start up.

    3) yes
I think the only problem with this laptop is that theres' no drivers for switching between integrated and discrete graphics. edit: i think you have to change in bios every time u want to change them.

another thing you have to consider is that you could lose the access to your recovery partition so backup your MBR (master boot record) before installing the other OS.
