So, I've been trying to fix my issue with my m11x not sleeping correctly. What it would do is sometimes fail to sleep, just continuing to crank away with the lid closed, and sometimes it WOULD sleep, but when it came back up I got no video at all.
Anyway, I installed the beta driver to see if that fixed the issue. First, though, I ran some benchmarks. I ended up losing 10 fps in Crysis (medium), and 15 fps in Batman AA. What? I am reinstalling the original driver off Dell's site to see if I can get my framerates back up to where they used to be.
Either way, I'm kind of upset. I will continue to fiddle.

I re-installed the original, dated 12/28/09 nVidia driver off Dell's site (it's dated February on the website), and my old frame rates are back. I'm relieved.
But I still need to figure out the sleep issue. I've had the problem with other Win7 laptops, so I'm hoping to stumble on a fix here before my return window is done (I just took delivery 3 days ago, so I've got time!). Otherwise, it is a brilliant laptop. The battery life and build quality is excellent. -
Rich,
Did you contact tech support? Not saying its only a tech support service call fix, but discussing the issue might help shed some light on the issue. As I mentioned in the other thread, the behavior you describe does not sound right.
As an alternative, have you tried performing a restore using DataSafe's emergency rescue usb flash drive option? Since you recently received the system, might be easier to start fresh with a clean image to rule out a hardware/os corruption issue.
