Shocked that the quality is so good that is. I swear, I think I got a unit that someone returned the first day or maybe never even opened. I can't find one damn thing wrong with this unit. There's not even a scratch at the bottom. I am ecstatic, of course.

My only complaint is that Dell could have at least removed the personalized tag from the bottom of the unit! It's kind of weird to see someone else's name on your computer. Anyone know if I can order one from dell with my own name?

One of the admins around here was able to have one printed and sent to me, but it was because the personalized one I ordered was incorrect (letters cut off). You may be able to get someone to help you out, but as far as I know there is no way to simply go on Dell's website and order one.

Usually with Refurbs they replace many of the parts that are overly worn with new parts... At least thats what has happened with previous refurbished items I have purchased. I am interested in another personalized plate... Hell, I would even be happy with a standard M11x plate... Mine now says the name of the DR. I bought mine from, lol. Kinda funny a pediatric Dr. would buy an m11x.

Haha, so that's what the Doctors do after their last appointment at 2 pm! I always thought they just went out to play golf. :)

I'm going to find out from Dell if I can get a new plate. I agree, I'd be happy
with a regular, non-personalized plate at this point.

I didn't even get a name plate with my refurb lol. I can't complain because I did get a great deal, m11x R2, core i5, 4gb ddr3 ram, for $655 shipped to my door.

Great deal Shark. I originally found a deal close to that one for an i5, but then decided to exchange it when I found an i7 with bluetooth and 8g ram for about $175 more, which is the one I got.

    SO, so far I've

    1) Updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest ones (266.58, directly from Nvidia) 2) Downloaded Throttlestop but haven't installed it yet (thinking of OC to 164 FSB at first and installing Throttlestop to see if everything is stable).
    3) Will eventually whitelist any games in the Nvidia Control Panel that don't automatically work with Optimus, but Steam is taking forever to download and install my games (as usual) so I don't know which ones will need to be whitelisted yet...

Anything else should do or update? What's the consensus on the best BIOS version? I forgot to look at the one that I currently have (I'm at work), but I assume its an A02. Should I upgrade to A04?

Question, when you play games on Steam do you get a full screen or partial? I can only seem to get a partial screen.

Call Dell - ask them about part# P7H63 (Generic M17x-R3 Nameplate)

Ask them to check to see if there is a generic plate for the M11x. There might be, worth a shot.

Apparently they get stock every tuesday and the best deals only last a couple of hours. That seems to be the case in the USA anyway, probably different elsewhere.

roxxor is right. You just have to keep looking for them to post the refurb R2s and when they do, move on them fast. I was able to get my i7, with bluetooth module and 8g ram for $886 using the 20% refurb discount coupon.

I had a tough time finding one too, you have to just keep trying it seems like they come and go or I think people are leaving them in the cart but dell kicks it out after 15 min.

The Dell Outlet, however they've been sold out all week! They even took the "R2" option away from the website.

Ebay is another option (lots of refurb sellers).

If you want one from the outlet, you have to monitor the website comparable to an ebay auction that's "ending soon" in order to catch one.

I just checked dell they have several R2 versions available, cheapest one is $799 but the 20% off code is still valid and bings it down to about $639, free shipping, you would just have to calculate tax.

I ordered two refurbs. One MX11 R1, which had a bunch of light scratches on the admittedly easily scratchable lid, along with random gunk on the screen that I had to remove. Not a great first impression, though the unit was nice enough that I bought an MX11 R2, which has a better processor and a better lid. It looks like it's new. The plate on the bottom has some 'alien' like letters flanking two 8s...no idea why haha.

Bought my M11x R2 refurb not long after the new year and I was quite surprised. Could not find a scratch anywhere, hinges feel tight and no gaps in the screen bezel. Though I am noticing a slight high pitch noise, I think it maybe the fan but I seem to only noise it when on battery. Other than that not a bad deal for 670$.

I have the same "88" glyphs on my name plate as well. It's alienware lingo for "M11x"

Awesome haha cause I have been saving up some money so that by my birthday in march I'd have atleast half of the price of it down and the other half I could see if my rents wanna pitch in lol. But hopefully if I do get a refurb it's not all beat up. It's good to know hat everyone has been getting their refurbs in good shape for the most part. hope I'll be lucky too lol. I did see a few r2s when a checked a bit ago too actually. lets hope they still got some in march!

I got a refurbished i5 with 4 gig. it was like the system was never used except where the speakers area lights up. the shiny plastic piece has a few scratches. I love my M11X. I do not know about everyone else but the speakers that they packed in this thing, but i was like WOW. I can actually hear a laptop for once.
