Ok so I'm not totally happy with the performance of the R1 with (8GB ram) with Diablo 3, should I sell it and upgrade to an R2 or R3 instead? Or do you recommend switching to an M14x instead?

How much faster are the i7's compared to the R1's?

Please give me your opinions. Thank you

The C2D CPU is most probably the bottleneck in the R1 for D3 so i'd say the difference between them is the difference between whatever you're getting now and at least 10 more FPS.

It just comes down to cost, how much you're gonna sell yours for, how much you're gonna fork out for an upgrade, and exactly what you're getting for that money spent.

Well I bought it for $540 and trying to sell it for 650-600. How much of a difference is an M14x?

you will see a big upgrade over your r1 if you get the 14x but.... it's not going to be as portable, it's rather heavy.

Well like i said you can get an R2 for $600 so you may need to lower that if you're looking at selling it fast. Diablo 3 specifically has some compatibility issues so even people with M17x's and M18x's have problems playing it smoothly so for all i know the M14x may have worse performance. Probably better searching that section and finding a Diablo 3 thread for a ballpark FPS figure.

The M14x has a full quad-core CPU, which means more power but less battery life. Personally for my gaming & usage needs i wouldn't see any performance increase over my M11x R3 because it already hammers everything so it depends on your needs.

Don't get me wrong, I love my M11x R2 ... but I'd actually go for a M14x if you're planning on heavy Diablo 3 playing. Toward the later parts of the game, especially in Act 3 and Act 4 ... my overclocked R2 gets massive slowdowns, especially with other people in the game.

Honestly, you may get $400~ for the R1, if you bought it recently I think you paid a bit too much (I do not know if there is a warranty, etc, I assume there is none).

I went from the R1 to a M15x, I love it. I have been running Diablo 3 with no issues at 60fps (unless you get a big mob, then it may drop, but usually it does not). I do not like the M14x myself, unless you want to buy a new computer for dell with a warranty, etc without buying a m17x or m18x. I can not speak for the R2's and R3's though, I do not think it is worth going to a R2, and R3's with a decent set-up are going for what you can get a used m15x/m14x for.

If you are wanting to stick with the M11x and intend to game then the R3 would be the better choice with the more powerful GPU and power efficient CPU I dont think you will see much of a difference going from R1 to R2.

If you do not care about size though as others mention you can pick up an M14x R1 for dirt cheap now the R2 is out.
