Hey guys, I've had my R1 for 1.5 years now and it hasn't let me down. EVER.
But since I am going away for college I have an option to replace my old R1. The reason for the upgrade is that I need more processing power for games and video editing. So far my R1 isn't doing well, nor is it doing badly.
I only have a budget of $750 for the R2 right now. Should I go for it? Should I wait for the R3's to go on sale? Or save the money and wait for newer models?
-
If I were you I'd wait for the R3. Either way it's an incredible boost. I've had a chance to use all three models and I can tell you the boost from the R1 to R2 is amazing. The R2 to R3 isnt amazing but it plays things the R2 can barely play.
Its a question of instant gratification or delayed gratification. If you can wait I'd go for the R3. If you cannot or dont want to go for the R2. -
I was looking to getting the R2 'till I checked the Dell Outlet and saw that I could get a R3 for the same price or less. I went with the R3 with the I5 for $699!
-
You could always do that. Just make sure you have certified refurbished checked.
-
Is working quite well. I went from the R1 to the R3, so the upgrade was quite amazing. It was like getting twice the computer for $100 more for what I paid for the R1!
-
I've checking the outlet store for an R3 for 3days now.
They're always out of stock.
-
Check early in the morning, specially if you want the lower priced models!
-
Early in the morning. Got it. I hope I get something soon
-
You have to just keep checking. A lot of people, mostly ebay sharks, constantly sit around and hit F5 looking for the M11xR3s to pop up. You'll catch one eventually, and it'll be worth it. I've been holding out for the R3 over the older ones.
-
Aah. Well business is business yeah? I'll just have to keep on checking then. Good luck to me
-
This Outlet searching isn't working for me. I haven't slept yet, and I've been F5'ing the page every 5 minutes.
So far they're still out of stock! How long did it take for you guys?
-
Its not every morning. Don't do it every five minutes. Its chance. Just try for about 30min every morning until you get it.
edit; it all depends if anyone has returned theirs or not. -
I use it everyday, I have it refresh every 10 secs and it works great.

It sounds like a pain, but once you catch one, you'll save yourself a bundleJust make sure you wait for the 50$/10%/15%/20% coupons. One should be coming soon since the last expired somewhere around July 27th. They generally release once a month and last close to a week.
Another option is to bargain with a rep. If you'd like, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my rep info (gives max discounts). -

Almost the same model they replaced my R2 with (if not the exact same) -
Haha, sorry I've been asleep all this time! O.O!
But yes I'm looking at the outlet right now, and there's a great deal for 799!
It is however too high for my budget.
I decided to just wait another year to replace my r1. -
