Let's say you have a US version of the M11X..

You go on a trip to India or Indonesia or Singapore or wherever with your M11X...

No free Wifi signal is available at your hotel, and all that's available is a 3G or 4G cell network.

Is it just a matter of plugging a local Sim Card into the M11X and, boom, you've now got internet over a cell network?

I just spoke to a Dell rep, and she didn't mention anything about Sim Cards; all she said I needed was some thing called "USB Mobile Broadband".

    Never head of that before..

    She said:

Agent (XXX): "if you will travel out of the country you can use the mobile broadband as long as your network provider has partner networks in the country you are going to."

    So now I'm confused!!!

    The agent is an idiot.

If you bought the optional WWAN card (ie/the radio) - or bought and installed your own separately, you'll be able to roam anywhere on your own sim if your network provider has a partner network, or using a sim bought locally. You don't need "USB mobile broadband" because it'll be built-in. That's the whole point.

yeah, she really had me confused there...

Regarding the Sim.... do I still need the WWAN card if I just want to use the Sim card to connect to the internet via a cellular network?

Or do I just need to plug in the Sim card and that's it?

The sim slot is there, but without a radio you won't connect to any network. So yes, you need the card. Also, if you buy the card from Dell, the antenna will come pre-installed. If you don't, you'll have to install an antenna yourself.
