I just upgraded to Windows 8 and noticed that my download speed went from 2.5mb/s to 300kb/s, so downloading my games is currently painful.
I have a bigfoot wireless n1103 on my m11x.
Any advice?
Speedtest.net shows my download speed at 2.5mb/s though...
*Specs:
M11xR2
i7-640um
8gb ram
240gb ssd
bigfoot n1103 (Installed software from their website too)
Windows 8 Pro WMC 64bit
Internet Service Speed
DL: 2.5mb/s
UL: 1mb/s
Also, I've been reading that a lot of people are encountering issues with download speeds after upgrading to Windows 8. It seems this is a common issue? I've also checked and disabled the feature that windows reserves 80% of bandwidth for it's services, and also noticed that for most users with the issue it caps at 10% of their maximum download speed. Tomorrow I'm going to use netlimiter to determine if my DL speed is being used up by other services.

Are you using the latest drivers from BigFoot Networks?
-
Yes, this is a common issue. You'll need drivers that have been updated for Windows 8 to resolve the issue.
I used these drivers for my 1520 card: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-8-compatibility-questions-2.html#post8959021
Unless the BigFoot edition is only a special driver on identical hardware, you'll need a new driver. -
You can download version 6.1.0.437 for Windows 8 64-bit here.
These are the steps recommended by Big Foot Networks for the driver update:
NOTE: You MUST uninstall your current software before upgrading to this package. Please download and SAVE this software to disk, then uninstall your current software before proceeding to installation.
***If you have Upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium, you must download the Killer Cleaner tool from the Download Drivers page. You can find it by setting your Product Category to "Utilities" and follow the prompts down.
Cleaning procedure: Download and SAVE the Windows 8 Killer setup, located on this page. Then, download and SAVE the Killer Cleaner.
Goto Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall the Killer Network Manager software. Reboot.
Run the Killer Cleaner. When finished, reboot again.
Install the new Windows 8 Killer Setup, ensuring security software is disabled prior to installation.
