Maybe I'm just paranoid.![]()
Anyways, my M11X R2 takes about a minute and a half to boot. However, I'm very impatient, so it seems to me that the laptop lags on the black screen right before the welcome screen where you can see the cursor (I have no password). I don't have any programs running on startup (clean install), so I don't know of anything that's slowing it down. I don't have CC either, so the M11x optimization thread doesn't really help me. Any solutions?

Do you have the A03 Bios update, I had that problem also. Once i installed A03 Bios from dell, It took out that long lag b4 the Welcome startup password thingy (ya i dont know whats that called)

Defrag, Make sure the Power Option is set to "High Performance"

Momentus xt will fix that problem

There was another thread about the long wait on the welcome screen. People had a wait of approximate 20-40 secs on this screen.
No answers were found from what i remember. One guy said he removed everything Alienware based from start up and processes and it helped. -
Prices on those things just dropped too. Picked up a 120gb for 220 bucks. (I use my stock HDD as an external now for all of my music/movies, well worth the investment)

Yeah, just got the A03 but did a clean install. :/

Not sure if anyone is aware of this program as it came then went now its back in beta form.

It tells you exactly whats taking what time in your boot sequence. You can stop or change some of the programs to delayed start or pause intil you start them manually.
It gives a good indication of what the hold up is.
I cannot afford an ssd so thats not an option for me, although i would love one. It seems Command centre is taking nearly 20 seconds.
Ive attached a screen shot. Hope this helps with others slow boot time.
edit: Got my boot time to 55-60 seconds. I have command centre/accelerometer/bt/printer comunication and a few other non essentials on delayed start. Can start these in one click as and when.
Much better boot time.
edit 2: strange but I have command centre running at boot again but it only takes 6 seconds now!. I have re booted 4 or 5 times and its still 6 or 7 seconds. So from delaying the start to changing it back to boot it has fixed the delay. I now boot in 50 seconds Welcome screen is only a few seconds. Will keep testing but so far so good. im very happy about this. Been bugging me for ages.Have attached new screen with faster boot timeAttached Files:
