So I'm playing the pixel lottery due to this current one being crooked creating the dreaded hinge issue -
(embarrassingly I never really noticed until traveling with the unit this weekend)
So since they're replacing the panel due to an oncoming broken hinge, it'll be interesting to see if it's potentially one of these LG panels? I'm kinda hoping I get another Samsung, but I figure if I get an AUO, I've got slickie's ICC profile to try right away that will hopefully make it better.
I also had an issue where my battery would only show 2hrs. of power on a full charge even on Powersaver mode.
The Dell rep. tried to tell me this was in spec. and wasn't going to do anything about it until I explained that right on the product page of the Dell U.S. website the M11x is advertised as having over 7hrs. of battery life with Optimus switching graphics. And if I didn't need a gaming notebook with good battery life I could have gotten an Asus G73 with a 17" screen a 5870m and a Blu-Ray for the same price I paid for my M11x, which I bought for the battery. I said if the product page advertises 7hrs. but 2hrs is what's considered acceptable by your tech support than there needs to be a little * next to that claim with some fine print at the bottom saying actual battery acceptable time is 2hrs. otherwise it's some false advertising B.S.
I had the tech pull the product page up to at which point he said I was going to have to talk to a Supervisor about the battery, but right then the supervisor came up and approved a battery exchange (my gut says they had the webpage pulled up that I was referring to)
So both requests got honored and I made sure to be clear that if the new panel has any pixel/PQ issues I can exchange it for another as my current panel is perfect but creating hinge stress due to the in-home tech's installation error, and they said yes...
Just posting a record for others to refer to in case they hit any static with Alienware Tech support like I almost did today.
Keep your fingers crossed that I get an LG panel and can confirm the rumor.
Cheers![]()

Any chance you can provide a photo that would illustrate how the lid assembly is misaligned? I'm curious, because mounting the assembly to the chassis is pretty much screw it on and go. There are pins that lock it into place and as far as I've seen no way to adjust or get it wrong. Any misalignment would be in the arms (slight bend perhaps), or perhaps in the assembly itself..
So my pixel perfect replacement panel is itself now getting replaced due to the in home tech putting the current one on crooked..
