Tried hooking my machine up to my Toshiba Regza 32 inch tv. Picture was too big if that makes sense. What resolution should I select ?
Also I had trouble when I unplugged as lost the display on the laptop and had to reset the whole thing.
How is fps effected ? It's and r3 with 6gig ram core i5
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a few issues like that with mine on my external screen sometimes it does not like being unplugged when running displayport. Best thing to do is to change the screen back to the laptop using the resolution settings, right click screen resolution.
You can either have the laptop running on one screen or both, duplicated or extended depending on your preferences and you can choose what you like. I would recommend that you set your external screen to 1920x1080 because it going to be the resolution of the laptop 1366x768 which is causing the problem. The TV will be screen 2 so if you just want it on the tv select show desktop only on screen 2.

The Windows + P keys are your friend.
If you have a 'black' screen after disconnecting an external display, tap your way through a few Windows + P sequences and you should get a screen back on your M11x. This is the case on an M11xR1 anyway. -
I have the same problem, different TV i am running. Sometimes the issue is with the settings on the TV as it overscans the source. If you can change that it may help.
If you are not running the beta drivers I think that the nvidia control panel will also have some options. -
Simple solution that I have found.
Set closing lcd to "do nothing"
Then plug in hdmi, close laptop.
It will auto set the tv as the display.
You may need to turn the tv off then on again to get the resolution to pop up right. -
You need to adjust the overscan setting in the video driver control panel.
This 'too big' effect is called overscan and is done on purpose. -
-
You need to adjust the settings in the Intel Graphic Properties.
Regarding performance, you may experience a slight fps drop. -
Yeah adjust that Underscan slider, it should fix it.

Does your TV support 1080p? If it only supports 720p you're pretty much stuck with the big interface

I am the same issue on my R1, I hook it up to a 54 inch Panasonic TV, I have gotten it to work before, but now I can't remember how. I am current running the official Dell switchable drivers. I have tried adjusting the resolution, turning the laptop display off, turning the TV on/off...
The issue is basically I can only see the top 1/4 of the taskbar, and it looks like it is like that on all 4 sides of the screen, so its just barely too big. -
Adjust the overscan settings. If you can turn off overscan on the TV it will be the best solution, or if you can adjust the overscan in the drivers it will fix that issue as well. If there is a pixel to pixel mode on the TV use that.

I have the same r3 i5 setup- when I plug in hdmi it switches from intel to nvidia gpu. If you right click the desktop and select nvidia gpu, one of the options is to allow resizing. Click allow and then adjust it using the sliders - there are arrows in the corners so you can dial in the slider until the arrows are just in the corner. Not sure if you will lose any fidelity but for watching movies its much better than missing large portions of the screen and not being able to close windows because you can't see the x ... If you need additional help I can send you pics later.
Also running the latest beta drivers from the nvidia website.
