Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me which specs are the best to buy for the money for the m11x. For example, i5 vs. i7, 4GB RAM vs 8 GB, 1 GB GPU or 2 GB GPU, and which HDD or SSD? Should I get the stock SSD given from Alienware or should buy one from Newegg or another external source?

What can I get that will not show any difference (other than benchmarks) while gaming or doing pshop / eclipse? I have a 1080p 22" monitor that I will be plugging it into while I am not in class.

This is the R3 version of the m11x.

    Thanks.

Get the LEAST RAM POSSIBLE, I ordered with 4GB and wished I'd got 2GB as I've just got a Crucial 8GB kit for £59

I think Dell rip you off with the extras, if you can handle a screw driver and don't mind a delay before you get to play properly stick with the things you can't change e.g. CPU and Video memory

What about your ssd? Should I just go with the stock harddrive that is included in the price and order a good 256 GB SSD from Newegg? If I do that which one should I get. I would like to get one with 6GB/s but I am not sure if this is possible.

    Anyone have an idea?

yeah i would also get the stock hd and then switch to the ssd well i just picked up the 120gb vertex 3 even though i have an r2 because it was not too much more than the sata 2

I dont know if the r3 can use 6gb but it should be possible since it is a new motherboard I would actually get a 120 then an external for storage

Yes i would also recommend buying the ssd externally. Dell charges about $450 for a crappy samsung ssd. For the same amount or less you can get a 240 gb vertex 3 or a 256gb crucial c300/M4 and take advantage of the M11x r3's SATA III (6gb/s), which it does support.
