    Hey guys,

Anyone played SC II yet on their new R3's? I'd like to know how well this laptop plays the game. Can you play on ultra settings without a hiccup? What are the specs on your R3? Thanks a bunch.

For sure man, if R1 and R2 play it at ultra without lags or slowdowns, why couldn't the R3 do it? The R3 already reached a benchmark score beyound 7000, and my M11x R2, before the GPU OC, was reaching 6915 (CPU OCed to 166 Mhz and no ThrottleStop) points and playing smoothly the Starcraft 2.

The m11x R2 could NOT in any way play starcraft II in a way that was pleasant or competitive. 30 frames in sc2 IS NOT SMOOTH AND ENOUGH!

Play it on my R3 hooked up to a 23" 1080p monitor and it's very fluid on high settings.

Hmmm...Well, Battlefield 3 plays without any issue. However, I can't seem to get Starcraft 2 to play without lagging even on low. Which makes me think it's using the Intel HD graphics..however, it's set not to, and to use the High Performance Nvidia. Anyone experience this?

There is a HUGE thread on this from last year for R2s...Starcraft is another game where it REALLY depends on your tolerance, and gameplay - for example, i can play 2v2 no problem on high, but the minute i hit 3 or 4v4, around the mid game point when troop counts get high, it gets very choppy.

Also depends on if the mothership is out, or carriers, etc....I suggest running on high, but turning all shadows down as well as 3d physics slightly down.

edit: the FPS tolerance also heavily will depend on if u are a 'good' player or not, for example i am in platinum and diamond league, and u need to have precise micro to do it, so i prefer almost playing on low/med settings so i get 50+ FPs easy...

Remember that the Nvidia drivers that work well for BF3 are not the best for SC2. If you google "Starcraft 2 M11x", there's a thread on these forums about optimizing the m11x for SC2. The drivers from that thread run High settings smoothly.

I played through the campaign on R2 and it can not handle Ultra. Not a chance :)

Even with a fair amount of settings turned down I would get FPS dips with lots of units on screen. With a ton of marines on screen I hit 9 fps on setting that give me 60 fps on the ship pre mission areas. Ultra I get like 20fps on the ship :p

R3 would perform better but turning settings down like in the post above would be recommended. The game still looks nice.
