Anyone play TF2? How are you making out in terms of game play.

Trying to up my frame rate in this game and WoW...

I get drops to 15-17fps in fights....even with everything set to low.

You should be able to max that game out easy with no framerate problems. TF2 takes like nothing to run it on max. Make sure its whitelisted and such.

    CPU 1.7 GHz 3.0 GHz
Memory 512 MB RAM 1 GB RAM
Graphics hardware DirectX 8.1 video card; 256MB minimum video card memory. (NVIDIA GeForce 5 / ATI x1500 or higher) DirectX 9.0 video card; 512MB recommended video card memory. (NVIDIA GeForce 5000 or higher / ATI Radeon or Sapphire w/ HD support)
Network Internet Connection; minimum 128kbps p/ sec with low latency.

one would think so, but im afraid thats very very far from the truth.

With everything set on low and you engage in a battle with a few people firing at once, the FPS drops SIGNIFICANTLY.

There is NO way that a person can play a game like that with fps in the 15 range...its almost a slide show at that point.

You should really be able to run this game max...the M11x is far better at gaming than my other 3 year old gaming laptop and it can run TF2 at max. I'll check later on my M11x to be sure.

Things to check...do you have the latest Dell drivers?
Are you using any fancy AlienFX lighting while gaming? Having a morph or pulse setting while trying to play Starcraft 2 took the game from perfectly smooth to nearly unplayable for me.
Are you on the high performance setting in the battery options?

Am using just plain solid lite keyboard and such for lighting

Im on High performance mode and adjusted my advanced settings to run 100% min and max.

Use the Nvidia card, this games runs almost maxed out at 1366x768 at around 50fps, maybe 35-40 in busy areas.....

steam is whitelisted, the drivers show that the game is using the nvidia GPU.

I can get up to 100fps in area with no one around, however, when the fight starts its drops to 15-20, depending.

260 drivers let me set pretty much everything to max at 1080p, its unplayable on 266 drivers due to strange stuttering, oh well

My R2 would struggle with large 30 player servers.

The game is a CPU dependent game like BFBC2. Maxing it out won't make TOO much of a FPS difference. So, max or bust.

if you mean the stranger intermittant stuttering, than that's a game issue (I think related to mobile HDD powering down too quickly, as my SSD and desktop's 2TB WD Green don't exhibit this, but my laptop drives - all three of them in three different systems, exhibit this behaviour in TF2).

I should have been more clear, the game runs like smooth sweet beautiful butter on the 260 drivers, while it still technically runs the same (fps) wise on the 266, there is a strange constant stutter when you move and pan the camera, like a tiny rubber-banding.
