Hi folks,
I decided to work out what bios settings are best for Team Fortress 2, the game I play most on this excellent little machine. I'm using the nvidia 258.96 whql drivers with the kopicha/nautis nvdm file.
I kept my computer running all normal background tasks as I wanted this to be as "real world" as possible for me, and so I logged on to my usual server and recorded a timedemo of just over 30 seconds.
I reran the timedemo twice for each setting. I also wanted to ascertain the benefit of the multicore disabled/enabled option in TF2, so here are my results in frames per second:
No OC turbo off
Multicore disabled 22.09, 22.01
Multicore enabled 29.63, 30.36
No OC turbo on
Multicore disabled 32.45, 33.73
Multicore enabled 43.64, 43.40
166 OC turbo off
Multicore disabled 28.46, 29.89
Multicore enabled 42.28, 41.87
166 OC turbo on
Multicore disabled 38.75, 39.07
Multicore enabled 42.06, 43.15
So there you have it, draw your own conclusions but I will be keeping OC at 166 and turbo on, due to the better performance when multicore was disabled and the cpu was OCed. Hopefully this'll help with other single core games.
(all setting not mentioned were on the "*" recommended for the system, except AA which was 2xMSAA)
Anyway I hope this can be of some help to other m11x r2 TF2 fans![]()

How do you get the avg fps in TF2 when running a timedemo?
Also have you tried the little CS:S benchmark with the 258.96 drivers? I was getting horrible performance with those drivers and went back to the official ones. Both games are the same engine, so I'm wondering if your TF2 scores could be better. -
If you play back the timedemo it gives you the fps and some other figures at the end. I have tried the CS:Source benchmark too, but as I don't play that game I thought this would be more relevant as that bench is a few years old now and uses different assets etc. I do get about 80-100 fps on that bench depending on my settings.
Edit: Just ran it using my TF2 settings and got 78fps -
Oh ok, thats about the same as I get. Its a simple test, I just wanted to see what you got for comparison.

Yeah I seem to play a lot of source games so it's worth optimising for that engine. Performance on Alien Swarm isn't amazing though, but maybe updates will improve things.
