I'll start first by saying that I tested a 1080p file through VLC and received heavy stutter. I'm using an HDMI to output the video to the 1080p compatible HDTV. I've done a few searches an encountered a decision between installing codecs or installing (a driver?) that allows 1080p to run using GPU. Honestly, I have no clue how that effects the laptop or where to start, therefore any help is welcomed!
-Trying to do
--play 1080p
-Need help
--where to go to download proper files to allow?
--which of those files to download?
Thanks guys!

Download Media Player Classic Homecinema Edtion (Guru3D.com). Run the application, select EVR or EVR custom renderer (Vista/Windows 7), and this will off load the decoding to the GPU (you'll need to be using the Nvidia GPU, not Intel). This is an all in 1 package, codecs are included in the download.
The app has a lot of configuration options so be sure to check out http://www.guru3d.com/article/accelerate-x264-1080p-movies-over-the-gpu-guide/ for a detailed guide. -
If you prefer a solution which works crossplatform you may want to check out vlc:

vlc is what I tried initially but gave the stutter. I'll be testing WPC in a bit with those codecs.

Weird, all I've done is install CCCP and I haven't had any issues with 1080p video.

I'll vouch for this method, had the same problem with stuttering and followed the instructions on this site, Haven't had a problem with 1080p files since then, and was still on integrated graphics.

Nice, thanks for that info. 1080p and battery life here I come.

Does the fact that the m11x display is only 720p effect it outputting to 1080p.

I'm a complete noob, just learning. -
The 335GT will display content as 1080p on a HDTV that is rated 1080p. My first-gen M11X displayed beautiful 1080p content on my 32" LG 1080p HDTV.
