Hi everyone. Any of you that are having the problem that gives the message "Warning! Minimum system requirements not met!" when you try to start the game The Witcher in Alienware M11X R2, please, post in the following topic your willingness that this problem should be fixed.
The Witcher doesn't working with new drivers - NVIDIA Forums
This problem is happening since after the 258.96 driver. It was working with this one.
Sorry about my english and later!
-
Yes there is a way to run the game. Go into steam and right click on the witcher in your game list. select properties. click on "set launch options". Then enter " -dontForceMinReqs " without the quotes. hit ok and play the game.
-
Yup. The dontforceminreqs trick works perfectly for 260.99.
-
Also be sure to add it to your whitelist. The .exe in the system folder in The Witcher's directory.
-
i just added to white list on 260.99 and it worked perfectly.
-
Not to hijack the post, but has anybody managed to get AlienFX/LightFX support working in the Witcher?
-
Thanks dude, yes it works, but on minimum settings. This sucks all the world. Who wants to play on minimum settings when with an Alienware M11X you could play it in high (max) settings easily? I don't bought the M11X for this, no one bought. You know that, and isn't that what we Witcher players want.
I really hope Nvidia fix it, the new drivers improve satisfatorily the M11X speed on games and I want to use new drivers, not old ones just to play Witcher or any other game that isn't working properly. -
just make sure its white listed...i play it on high no prob, drivers 260.99
-
I also play on high without any problems using 260.99.
-
Really? Well I will give it a try. But it don't work on driver 266.35. I'm almost certain that I tested it with driver 260.99...
-
I tested the 260.99 and it gives me a black screen with just the sound of the game and no image. Any advice? Thanks.
-
Have you whitelisted the right exe? Should be steam\steamapps\common\the witcher enhanced edition\system\witcher.exe
-
I did it, but it isn't working yet. Just to let you guys know, my M11X isn't the R1, but the R2. Is yours the R1?
-
Working fine on my M11xR2. I had to use the "-dontForceMinReqs" flag, and had to whitelist the witcher.exe file (as the default settings were to use integrated graphics - which worked, just not that well).
Using the 266.44 modded drivers currently, but was working OK with the Dell-supplied build I had installed previously. Crashing seems to have reduced significantly after I uninstalled all the various VC++ libraries and installed the latest 2010 x86 and x64 VC++ libraries. AlienFX support doesn't seem to work, but that's not a big deal. -
R2, 260.99 drivers, and using the -"dontForceMinReqs" flag as well as whitelisting witcher.exe in the folder I mentioned. Works perfectly.
-
Ummm but with -dontForceMinReqs you just can't play the game on maximum settings, don't? Or can you? Because I already used this and couldn't even use the anisotropic filter in-game, and couldn't maximize the graphics. So, can u play on max? I mean, the textures stay on Low...Thanks for the help dudes.
-
Yep, I have most settings maxxed except aniso/aa (they're at 2x/2x).
-
I do the same except with aniso at x16 with no problems. I find in most games I can max out aniso with no noticeable hit in FPS.
-
Ok installing back my 260.99! Thanks all of you guys! Can't wait to play the game with another driver that isn't the 258.
If this works, it will be great, although Nvidia should fix these problems in the final verison of 266.35 driver, so we can play the game (and another games) without weird "tricks". -
Haha fuc#... it worked for just a moment (and so I smiled), but when I put 16x aniso and textures on High, I got a black screen with sound (and I got angry), and no matter what I do (I restarted the notebook), I have the black screen with background sound. Any tips? Btw, I'm running it in Windows XP Sp2 compatibility mode. Thx!
-
Ask Steam to verify file integrity. If that doesn't work you'll likely have to manually edit the config file back to stock settings.
-
UPDATE: IT'S WORKING NOW! FINNALY!
What I did was disable the Anti-Aliasing in Nvidia Control Panel so the game's image appeared. Thanks dudes, you guys helped me a lot! Good gaming to you. -
Can any of you guys that have The Witcher running on R2 with settings maxed out post a screenshot of what the game looks like? I'm waiting for my R2 being delivered from DELL (taking bloody ages) and can't wait to get The Witcher up and running on it. I'd really love to see a screenshot or 2.
-
Funny, since updating to 266.58, all of a sudden I have your problem. Aniso works, but I'm unable to set AA or texture quality. Have you been able to get it to work on max?
-
I'm now getting the "minimum system requirements not met" error after I installed 266.58. Worked fine for me with 260.99. I purchased the game from Amazon, so I can't change the launch settings in Steam.
Any ideas besides going back to 260? R2 -
Just add "-dontForceMinReqs" to the shortcut you use to launch the game. It's not a steam thing, it's just the same as if you were to type "witcher.exe -dontforceminreqs" from the command line.
-
That works, except texture quality is now locked to the lowest setting. Can you confirm that you are able to change it?
-
Using 266.58 I can raise/lower anything but AA is locked out.
-
Got it. Thanks for the tip! However when I run it from steam, it does not run it with the video card. But when I launch it from a shortcut on the desktop, it does.
Same here. I cannot change mine. -
That's encouraging. Are you using the -dontforceminreqs switch? Also can you post your nvidia control panel settings for the app? And are you launching with the steam install or normal?
-
Yes I am using -dontforceminreqs within steam and launch it from steam. I have not changed any of the Nv settings other than adding the .exe to the white list manually. Everything is still set to use global settings.
-
Ok, then what are your global settings?
-
Knew you were going to ask that. After working a 12 hour day I didn't feel like going to turn it on...
But they are all the default settings
Amb Occ - off
Ani filter - app control
AA gamma - off
AA mode - app control
AA trans - off
max frames - 3
I can try turning these up and see if the game runs stable if it will help you out any. -
I'll give this a go and report back in a few hours. Time for bed.
-
No roxxor, I can't change texture's quality or AA with 266.58 driver, like you. I changed mine back to 260. Well, I hope that Nvidia fix this problems in their next driver.
-
Didn't work for me. AA is still greyed out and can't change the texture quality. Can you confirm in the settings menu that your textures are set to anything other than "low"?
-
Hey Genki, but you are playing on medium for low settings, don't? I wish I would play The Witcher and Batman A.A. on the new driver.
By the way: great avatar Genki, Itto Ogami rulez. The Lone Wolf...did you read the manga? I was reading but stopped to buy it. I will buy again. But the tv serie rox too, it's great! -
Didn't notice that before. The texture slider looks like it is not locked, but when you try to move it you get some -IND00000 or something. Seems to be stuck for me too. Pretty annoying.
Yes I would like to be able to play this at higher settings. But being I play it most of the time when I am at work. I am happy to just to get it working. I never finished it and wanted to get through it before the Witcher 2 releases.
No I never read the manga. 日本語が話せますか? -
No, I don't speak nihongo. I just know well the culture and pratices since I'm strictly involved in martial arts, like karate and kendo, and I like a lot anime/manga.
But here stay my tip: read the manga and you will like it. It's very good!
