This question assumes that other batteries can be used (as the original one is made by Samsung and shipped to Dell as it says on the battery itself).

Is the connector used to connect the battery to the laptop standard?

If so other batteries with similar (or smaller) sizes could be used, no?

It would be great to get 8hrs with some 2013 battery technology :)

    thoughts?

Haven't seen anything like that on the forum, I guess you could try it without any harm.

wouldn't blindly plug it in even if connector was same. check that voltages match etc. otherwise might blow a fuse and ruin the mobo.

Haven't seen any replacement ones though, even original dell ones are relatively hard to find, doubt you'll find any custom ones with high capacity, and battery tech hasn't advanced that much... I'm still waiting on those 10x capacity etc. from prototyping posts i seen ages ago, still nothing... wish they'd invest more into improving battery performance, rather than just stabbing a larger one inside.

the one in the m11x is a pretty large battery.. it takes most of the space inside..

yeah, it is sad how battery technology is still 50 years behind the rest of the computer tech.. i mean we still use chemical storage which was around since the middle ages in one form or another.. how about Star Trek?

    depressing :(

is the battery from the m14x usable on the m11x though?

i did read a post of someone claiming that it is same battery in both m11x and m14x. Cannot confirm myself though. I'm sure one of dell people can confirm.

Even if there was a alternate battery to use for this laptop, I tried searching. Shape is something to consider, and so far, a lot of batteries are more rectangular than square. :( Also voltage needs to match, and yes m14x is the same battery with m11x, but they're literally the same, part number, capacity/voltage.

Is the battery for the new "Alienware 14" that is coming out this year compatible with M11X R3?

Will the new battery be the same as the previous incarnations of M14x (R1 & R2)?

I doubt it, as it is 6 cell vs 8 cells of the previous one
