This comes from forum member "jsgiv"

For the backgrounds / avatars.. go here..

    http://support.dell.com/support/topi...1&journalid=#3

Midway down the page there's an "Alienware Wallpaper" download link - click that to retrieve the installer. It states it's for the M17X (i.e. "Alienware M17X Custom Package") but it works for the M11x (and I'm assuming the M15X as well)...

Once downloaded - run the installer as administrator - it'll install the avatars in the appropriate directory so that you can simply "Change your picture" via your own selection - as well as put all the backgrounds in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper directory. I personally select all the images and create/move them to a new "Alienware" directory.

At that point - you can create your own theme via personalization. Simply select all the backgrounds in the Alienware folder you've created. Set the color to "Frost" if you want it like it was shipped..

For the logon screen.. go here:

Tweaks.com Logon Changer for Microsoft Windows 7

and download the utility ... run the utility - and, again, if you want the same as shipped - select the "AW-CO100.jpg" image from the folder you've downloaded the backgrounds to (C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper or C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Alienware in my case) within the tweakslogon utility and have it apply. It'll prompt to re-size - Answer "yes" - and voila, you're done.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers! :)

I don't believe you can download them from Dell (at least I couldn't find them). I had issues cloning a disk the other day and decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate and delete all the Dell partitions.

Before I did I installed it on another box and made sure I could set it up the same.

    Theme
To get the theme I changed the background, which enabled me to save the theme to be exported. Then dropped it onto the new box and applied it.

    Wallpapers
You need to copy the Alienware backgrounds from:

    C:\windows\Web\Wallpaper\Alienware

this is just a straight copy.

    Login screen
There's a file called backgrounddefault.jpg in C:\windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds. This needs to be copied to the new system. You also need to create a DWORD(?) registry key called OEMBackground if it does not exist in:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background

    its value should be 1.

    Account icons
These are located in a hidden directory:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures

I just copied them to the new box.

    OEM Files
There's a bunch of files that you need to copy from:

    c:\windows\system32\oem

Not sure how to get them to work, not checked into it yet.

Then I installed the Alienware apps from the Dell web site. My system now looks the same as it did when I got it. There may be more that I've missed, apologies if thats the case.

I have all the files, but am not sure on the rules of uploading these sorts of things here, so am playing it safe.

    Kind regards,

    Colin

    Yup, just white.
The little alien head is colored by the LCD screen.
