Are there any noticeable differences in the display (maybe less glare) or any better build quality placed on the hinges that alot of people are having trouble with?

Same glare, hinges seem fine. the bottom panel seems a little sturdier, my current r1 is fine but my first r1 the metal there was weird.

I'm at work, so no. Seriously though, just take an r1, imagine it covered in black flat primer, and that is what it looks like.
