So Alienware authorized a full refund to me due to an issue with the "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller." We have already reinstalled the driver but after a cold reboot, the USB 3.0 ports turn off and I keep getting a yellow exclamation point over the Renesas host controller.

My question is if anyone knows what could be causing the problem without me having to go through with the return. This Alienware is what I really wanted but I can't take a chance of continual problems with several days left on my return period. Is this really a logic board problem or is there a potential fix? I noticed this problem first occured when I plugged in my Razer Orochi mouse and also plugged in a Seagate Goflex HD with a USB 3.0 adapter.

factory reset then if problem persists it is faulty controller, if not, it is drivers. Never had any issues with my USB 3.0

See if its not going into low power mode or something. This is on battery or plugged in? There is a note about usb 3.0 and Razor with not coming back on from sleep mode dealing with power management issues.

It's plugged in. So could the Razer Orochi mouse be triggering the USB controller to shut down or cause a conflict with the driver? I guess I could reinstall the driver again and try a different USB mouse. Should I also uninstall the Razer configurator? The only other concern I have is the crash upon booting up and the 3 beeps I heard a couple nights ago when I was booting. Does this all sound as a simple conflict with a USB device or a faulty logic board?

It's most likely a faulty logic board.

In cases where there is a conflicting / malfunctioning USB device, then it will only affect the USB device. The USB controller itself should not be affected.

So if you do have a USB controller issue, it is most likely a faulty logic board. Take advantage of the Alienware offer to either get a refund or replacement system.

That's what I was thinking. Btw, I removed the Razer software and also noticed after booting up that the USB Controller driver magically was working again with no yellow exclamation point on the device. I decided to plug in a different mouse, the Logitech G5, and it worked. I then connected my Seagate goflex with the 3.0 adapter and both worked. I rebooted and left both the mouse and HD attached to both USB 3.0 ports. After everything booted up, the Seagate drive was still lit up but the mouse was not working. I checked the USB controller and once again got the yellow exclamation over the device.
