I have had alot less variation in fps (less spikes) and better overall performance playing SC2 when I changed my minimum processor state to 100% in my battery profile when it is plugged in. Give it a try.

My core speed is locked at 2.3ghz which means turbo boost is always on (164 fsb). Even when I play SC2 it stays at 2.3 ghz which means turbo boost on the i5 cant be on at all times if you set the min processor to 100% pretty cool!

P.S. temps do increase 10C when idle.

Wouldn't having only one core in action affect framerate at all?

Fyro11 - I "believe" and others with the R2 have screen shots if my memory is correct, this series of cpu's can and do actually turbo both cores. So you are not just stuck with 1 core at 2.3. I would need the R2 guys to chime in with the cpu software screenshots.

On my i5 according to CPU-Z with max frequency core 0 is 2.3ghz (locked 14X multiplier) and core 2 is 1974 mhz (locked at 12X multiplier) so turbo boost does indeed work on both cores at the same time!

anyway there are many claims that turbo boost is useless in gaming as processor is always on load with heat thus turbo will not kick in. I am verify this that its not true at all. Base on Intel Turbo Boost monitor. I do see consistant boost when game is running. and not just a short burst and back to default speed. I had posted the tool awhile back. Install it and check it out yourself.
