I've had my m11x R1 for 2 months now and i have read about other people having problems with their hinges. Right now i havent got any problems with it but would just like to know of any tips so that i may not or at least delay it from running into any hinge issues, i dont wanna end up with a cracked or damaged hinge...im all the way up here in the Philippines and Alienware warranty support may not be able to reach me all the way here.

Not an Alienware owner, but i make sure i hold the center of the display where the webcam is so that the stress of opening/closing is distributed evenly to both hinges.

    1. stop reading hinge related posts so your paranoid does not get any worse
    2. minimize the number of times you have to close/reopen the lid

no.1 made me smile a bit...haha cant do that especially when i saw someone posted pics of their damaged hinge...I even considered the possibility of sealing and coating the hinge area with a liquid metal epoxy...so that when it dries its almost as good as metal....will probably consider warranty voiding options after the warranty expires...which is still almost a year from now haha
