I downloaded the latest BIOS from Dell this evening and installed it. After logging into a game (Mount & Blade Warband) the laptop was boiling, heat is rising up from the keyboard and the left part of the latop is really hot, as well as under the laptop.
I'm using a laptop cooler when using it and it did a great job. After shutting down the game I put my hand on the adapter and it felt like I was touching a water heater in the shower.
After checking the HWMonitor I got this results:

Best option would be to run HWmonitor before you play a game, load up the game and play it for 10/15mins and then minimise and check the temps. -
Agree with ryan2107, temps in the 80's (and maybe even low 90's) are definitely not unheard of in R2's when the CPU and GPU are being utilized to the max. Just try to not touch the bottom and ensure it has good air circulation (though the cooler might do just fine).

Alright, I took two screenshots of it when being idle and when playing Mafia II. I was using the cooling fan/stand on both of the screenshots.
This are the temps when I did random stuff like watching YouTube on FireFox and updating some steam games. I did not have the adapter plugged here because I never use it when not playing or doing something advanced to keep the battery alive.
Now this is after playing Mafia II for about 30 minutes, the adapter almost can't be touched due to the heat. I also did this for fun, I placed a regular thermometer ontop of the adapter and it went up to 100 degrees fahrenheit which is 38 degrees celsius.

I wouldn't worry about the adapter, pretty much every one I've had gets ridiculously hot. The Dell ones do tend to get a little hotter but it's nothing to worry about.
Those temps when you had been playing are really good, I haven't got my M11x yet but my Lenovo gets similar temps when I'm just browsing the internet while laying on my bed. I was expecting them to be around 70~80. -

Update: I ran down my battery to about 17% today and I plugged it in to charge, now it's about 63% still charging and now it really feels like a warm-water heater.
I was checking the temp again with the thermometer on the adapter and now it shows over 120 degrees fahrenheit which is 50 degrees celsius. Are you sure it's normal?
NOTE: I have the adapter on a flat surface with no objects covering it. -
Dude, as long as laptop's temps don't go over 90 on flat surface you're all good. For adapter, its hardly warm when fully charged and just browsing etc. but it gets to like 70 or something, its no big deal, its used to it and is ready for more.

Thanks for your answers people ^^
Too hot to handle after BIOS update.
