Hello. I will be traveling to Australia with in the next couple of months. I have the M11x R2 with the SIM reader. I was wondering how I could be able to get this to work over in Australia. Would I need to a international SIM? Thanks for the help.

i don't think the internal SIM slot works here (i don't think my Australian R2 has the WWAN adaptor for it): best just to get a pre-paid USB dongle from providers like Vodafone or 3 when you arrive.

telstra most likely but i think a USB dongle is much easier than using a SIM card.

it's a USB dongle: it plugs into a USB port and it powers from there.

most likely you'll need a US to AU adaptor but they weren't asking about that!

Right, and my question was asking if he had considered that as well and reminding him that they are different just in case he had not considered it.

thanks everyone. I have been reading the reviews for all those and people were saying that the Optus USB is like having dial-up. I can't use that b/c I will be uploading videos. Do you think it would be better if I wait till I get to Australia to get the USB card?

Also thanks CZroe. I have considered that I would need that. But thanks for the reminder.

The most important thing to know is this

What band does the soon slot run on, who do you use as your provider in the usa?

    T Mobile? Or AT&T?

If you use at&t, your only option is to get a Telstra sim, with prepaid data. If you are with t Mobile then your options are many.
