Just a little bit ago, I created this thread about how I can't seem to play games on my new M11x R2:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/516922-cant-run-wow.html

Well I went to NVIDA.com and tried to DL the latest drivers (258.96 WHQL)for my vid card. When I try to install them, I get the following error:

"The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

So what drivers should I have? If the drivers I got from Dell don't work, and the drivers I got from NVIDIA won't even install, then I'm sort of stumped.

I recall somewhere in my forum search seeing someone talking about replacing some 'ini' file or something? How would I go about doing that (if it is needed)?

What drivers is everyone else using?

I'm sorry to be asking so many questions...but when you go and spend a ton of money on a gaming system that doesn't game, the panic starts to set in.

This thread gets posted every other day, I swear :p

Search for Kopicha's threads on modified drivers. The short answer is drivers straight from nVidia don't support the M11x, so they must be modified to work.

I'm sorry for posting a question that apparently others have posted. It's just that the only thing I know to do is do a search. I look at the results of that search and well...sometimes those results can be a bit of information overload. There's so much there to sift through. And really, most of it is really hard for someone like me (who is not technical at all) to understand.

I guess what I'm quickly finding out is that an Alienware is really for the more technical user who knows how to get 'under the hood' the minute you take the computer out of the box. I was more looking for a good gaming computer that I could buy, hook up & play. I mean, if I'd have ever thought that I'd be trying to figure out how to modify drivers from the manufacturer...well...my goodness, I'm just overwhelmed.

I found one of the threads from Kopicha that you were talking about here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/510346-modded-optimus-drivers-collection-r2.html

I suppose I'll try to read through all of that stuff and make some sense of it. But man...I'm really just wanting to send this thing back.

At any rate, thanks for your response
