i was just curious if it would cause any instability etc. to underclock the animal for battery life with all the battery life topics?

Since sata usb etc. clocks are linked with the CPU would that mess up HDD USB controllers? wonder if it would bring any performance gains? Also would it confuse turbo boost?

I remember reading somewhere (Probably here), that underclocking doesn't really do much for battery times and that it's more efficient to be able to do a task quicker instead of slower but with a little bit more battery life. So I guess it's saying that instead of looking for ways to extend battery life, it's more efficient to cut life to be able to be quicker and finish the task.

If you want to limit your CPU speed while on battery, you can start by editing your power profile in alienfusion, there is a tab that allows you to limit the max speed in percents.
this might be a staring point to increase battery life.

it should but not by much.
The most battery boost to get is from lowering the brightness and making sure the 540m doesnt kick in at all - some firefox plugins mite do that
