Hey all, I just received my R2 replacement and I noticed from the beginning performance discrepancies between this one and my old faulty one. When I first booted it up, the WEI scores showed:
5.3 CPU
5.3 RAM
Graphics 3.6
Gaming Graphics 6.4
HDD 5.9
Note the low CPU and RAM scores.
Anyhow, I never gave it a second thought, until I started playing BC2, when I noticed more lag spikes, compared with my faulty one.
Hence, I benched the thing today, on PCMark Vantage and 3DMark 06. Options set to default, my Vantage showed just over 4300 while 3DMark gave me just under 6700. Now, I noticed some people here got well over 5K for Vantage and 2K for the 3DMark CPU score, where I got just over 1500. Now, I'm seriously suspecting defects in my CPU. What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I'm being flippant here, but it sounds like your replacement M11x is an M11xR1
I wouldn't worry to much you'll probably find it's just a PhysX setting or some such thing. I'm sure some smart person will suggest the correct setting and you'll have 'normality' restored.
This is my M11xR1 3Dmark06 score with a few tweaks.
M11xR1 1.7Ghz OC'd 4GB RAM nVidia 197.72(Dell) OC'd GPU 570/1425/910
3DMark Score: 6934 3DMarksHave you checked the wPrime CPU benchmark? I believe an M11xR2 should be around 38sec on 32K test. My m11xR1 is around 54sec.
SM 2.0 Score: 3181
SM 3.0 Score: 3414
CPU Score: 1459
My M11xR1 WEI is:
Processor: 4.6
Memory (RAM): 5.4
Graphics: 6.6
Gaming graphics: 6.6
Primary hard disk: 5.9
I wonder what memory you have in your new system. Think the memory should operate around 800Mhz. -
I'm curious to know, why did you get a replacement and how easy was it? Did you keep the customized nameplate? Because my m11x i7 has been freezing randomly, and it might be a hardware issue because I've done a clean install of Windows :X
My cpu and ram scores are 5.6, are you sure turboboost/speedstep is on in the bios? Also make sure you're not on powersaver mode, try it in high performance. -
Can you post your Cinebench R10 Single and multithreaded score, Vantage CPU score, and wPrime 32M score (remember to kill the CPU-Z process in the background)
I've found my Cinebench and Vantage scores to be lower than the reviews I've seen. I did get close to the same wPrime score though.
Edit: I see your Vantage CPU score was ~4300, mine was 4416, but Anandtech got 5329 -
OK, so far, I've got:
PCmark Vantage: 4350(I think)
3DMark 06: 6670(1550 CPU)
wPrime 32M: 49 secs(Shocking!)
So, I think I do have an issue with my CPU... -

Try it again. -
If you haven't already, make sure that after you've started wPrime but before you run the 32M routine that you're killing the CPU-Z process that's utilizing 25% of your CPU.

I believe that is actually what most other people are getting. This is a Ultra low voltage processor after all not a full fledged i5m/i7m.
-
-
Yeah, mid 30s is about what the i7 gets in my experience.
-

Not based on that wPrime score, no. Are you overclocking? If so, what FSB?
EDIT: Keep in mind that wPrime by default utilizes all 4 threads and that means that it will drop your each core's multiplier down to base. -
-
Then that score is right in line with what you should see on the i7.

OK, sorry to bump this thread again, but can someone confirm the following, and see if they seem correct?
3DMark 06: 6,700
1,550 CPU
PCMark Vantage: 4,3XX
wPrime 32M: 39-40s
Cinebench R10 64-Bit+Optimus: 1-CPU-2,7XX
Multi-CPU-4,700-4,800
Windows 7 WEI: CPU-5.3(Before was 5.5)
RAM-5.3(Before was 5.5)
Graphics-3.5
Gaming graphics-6.4
HDD-5.9
Tests done on mixed settings of balanced batt.+High performance, with the adapter plugged into the mains.
Thanks in advance!
Underperformance?
